York 2015 Flooding

Well as 2016 approaches and chrismas just leaves. Welcoming the horrendous flooding that i have never seen in my life in York ever before. As the climate heats’s things i guess flooding will be a part of our every day life’s and these situations are going to occur more frequently.  And only going to get much much worse over time with the warmest December 2015 on record. I don’t know why the City Of York Council and the Environment Agency don’t have the Flooding under control in York. They need to use something called common sense. If you have ever had any dealings with the council then you may understand. It can take weeks to work out the most simplest things. At lease a good few meetings will need to take place before anything occurs then get it wrong wasting time and your money.

Why is York so flooded?

Well this can’t help! The City Of York Council again granted planning permission in 2014. Well i’m certainly know rocket scientist but if you keep building housing estates on flood planes where do the water go instead? Silly City Of York Council and the Environment Agency people should pull together and gain legal advise and make claims against them. As surly they should take full responsibility for any damage to properties and businesses including loses of monies.

MP Julian Sturdy is urging the council to rethink large housing developments around York, including the 650-house site at Germany Beck in Fulford, which was granted planning permission last year.

A new town of 5,500 houses near Heslington, to be known as Whinthorpe, and a further 750 houses to the north of Haxby have also been proposed by the council, despite being located in areas prone to flooding, the MP’s office said. Read More.

Boats on the streets of York is not good and it may seem to be more of a tourist attraction. I have never seen the streets so busy with people with cameras and the local community pulling together when in need. Keeping in mind all the poor people houses that are now submerged in water.
